Tuina Treatment (Chinese Massage)
"Your treatments were terrific. After long term sickness a course of treatments has got me back to work. Thank you ever so much. My neck feels relaxed and my neck pain has decreased enormously.
My back spasms have been substantially reduced and my sciatic pain has greatly eased. A bonus is that my breathing is much easier and I feel refreshed and energised." Andreas Demetriou.

Tuina is an integral part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, which also includes acupuncture, herbal medicine and Qi Kung and dates back over 4,500 years.
It is widely practised in hospitals and clinics throughout China and is complementary to both TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and orthodox medicine.
Tuina is based on the understanding that the body functions as a whole, linked by vital energy or Qi, which flows along meridians (energy lines) and these meridians interlace as a network throughout the body.

Pressure of varying and controlled intensities, with constant varying directions, is applied using palms, forearms, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, elbows and even feet to the body and most specifically to acupressure points.
Stretches and joint manipulation can also be applied as part of the Tuina treatment. In combination these remove blockages to the flow of energy and restore their balance.
What does Tuina treat?
Tuina maintains good health and vitality and prevents disruptions to the balance and flow of Qi and (which always results in illness and pain). A Tuina massage is an energising and revitalising experience and also deeply relaxing at the same time.
The list of conditions that respond well to Tuina is impressively long. All the common acute and chronic pain conditions, tension and stiffness are treated including headaches, migraines, neck and shoulder pain, all kinds of back pain, sciatica, tennis and golfers elbow, knee problems, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome and fibrositis.
All musculo-skeletal problems that involve pain and reduce joint mobility respond quickly to Tuina and this includes sports injuries. Although Tuina is mostly used to treat painful, chronic conditions it is also used to brilliant effect for increasing sports performance.
Tuina is usually performed on the clothed body. Oil is optional, but can be very beneficial. The subject is massaged in a seated position or lying on a massage couch.
